Technical Officer (2 posts) in the Centre for Comparative Medicine Research (Ref.: 502809) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal)
For post (A), applicants should possess a Higher Diploma or above in Computer Engineering or Information Technology, with at least 2 years’ relevant experience. They should have a good command of written and spoken Chinese and English; and proficiency in database management and SQL programming. Experience in handling system development projects would be an advantage.
The appointee will assist in implementation, management and maintenance of information systems; and research data management. He/She will also design templates, liaise with IT systems vendors, provide technical support for the end-users and staff, and perform other duties as assigned.
For post (B), applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Biomedical/ Biological Sciences or a related discipline, with at least 3 years’ relevant working experience in an animal facility, of which 1 year with laboratory animals. Holders of Certificate in Laboratory Animal Technician or Laboratory Animal Technologist are advantageous. They should have a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese; good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills; knowledge of/skills in animal breeding; and an interest in setting up and operating a germfree/gnotobiotic animal facility.
The appointee will assist in setting up and operating germfree/gnotobiotic animal breeding and experimental section in the Centre; undertake technical and management work in connection with the care and use of laboratory animals; and may perform periodic duty roster on weekends and public holidays.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
