Teaching Assistant/Demonstrator in the Department of Sociology (Ref.: 504260) (to commence on August 16, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter, for an initial employment period of one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)
Applicants should possess a Doctoral degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Media & Cultural Studies or a related discipline, with at least one year’s experience in teaching support or academic/applied research in tertiary education settings. They should also possess excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills in English. A portfolio of supervision of projects, and/or student advising is highly preferred.
The appointee will work primarily onour taught Master'sprogramme in Media, Culture and Creative Cities (). He/She will work closely with course instructors to provide teaching assistance across courses of the programme. He/She is expected to involve in preparation of course materials, leading tutorials/in-class discussions, providing academic writing support to students, leading occasional classes and examinations, supervising students’ final year capstone projects (), and performing any other duties as assigned. The appointee will become a member of the programme committee team. He/She will have opportunities to gain exposure and insight into the administration and publicity of this popular Taught Postgraduate Programme.
