About our group:

The Equipment Commodity Management Team is responsible for defining and executing sourcing strategies for high value lab and manufacturing equipment, and equipment components used to support Seagate's global factories and design centers. We are a global team, with commodity managers located at all major Seagate sites throughout the world.

About the role - you will:

  • Be responsible for the sourcing and acquisition of high value equipment and components such as, electronic components, printed circuit board assemblies (PCB), automation
  • Support Seagate's Longmont, Colorado site and also serve as an interface to US suppliers for Seagate's manufacturing sites and equipment design teams in Asia
  • Work cross functionally with teams in US and Asia to develop sourcing strategies which support roadmap and production requirements
  • Participate and lead competitive analysis to identify best in class suppliers
  • Create contracts, negotiate pricing and commercial terms
  • Manage strategic relationships with suppliers to ensure supply continuity
  • Maintain an understanding of supported equipment, electronic components, and printed circuit board assembly
  • Identify suppliers with leading technology and ensure backup sources are in place
  • Monitor cost, schedule, and performance aspects of major contracts to ensure best in class performance through frequent supplier interactions and business reviews
  • Lead efforts to improve business processes, mitigate risk, and ensure supply continuity for indirect materials teams


About you:

  • Bachelor degree or higher in STEM and/or Business
  • Enjoy working independently and within teams
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Can develop and give presentations to all levels of management (including executive) in order to communicate and gain support for sourcing decisions and/or strategies
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point)
  • Able to work flexible hours as needed to meet with supply chain and internal teams


Your experience includes:

  • More than 5 years experience in Commodity Management, Supply Chain, or Engineering
  • Experience with electronic component sourcing and/or printed circuit board assembly and test processes
  • Working in collaborative environments
  • Partnering with external suppliers and/or customers
  • Negotiation and conflict management

You might also have:
  • Understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes, automation
  • Knowledge of contract law to assist in contract negotiations (SOW, T&C)
  • Utilized e-Source or web-based purchasing applications
  • Experience applying analytics tools such as Knime, R, Python, Tableau
  • Six Sigma and Lean experience/certification
