A Day in the Life
The Software V&V Engineer II is an established and productive individual contributor who will execute software test activities for a technical project within product software verification and validation.
Responsibilities and behaviors:
  • Act as a mentor to colleagues and collaborate with lower-level professionals
  • Performs verification and validation design and development activities for an electro-mechanical software-controlled medical devices from product definition and planning through production, release, and end of life
  • Develops subject matter expertise within the use application of the devices

  • Establishes, executes, and reports on software product development deliverables taking projects from concept to launch.
  • Conducts software product testing, creates strategies and outlines of tests, understands the requirements and design, executes tests and documents results
  • Ability to compile and organize technical data and prepare reports, presentations and spreadsheets of an analytical and interpretative nature to be presented to peers and project core teams.
  • Champions deliverables through the software development process.
  • Communicates primarily and frequently with internal team.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to manage the development of appropriate testing to verify product meets internal design requirements and external customer requirements.
  • Coordinates project tasks and documentation with design controls and risk analysis in accordance with established SOPs.
  • Incorporates required regulatory standards (FDA, ISO) in developmental and/or sustaining engineering projects including written protocols, test methods, assembly processes and the Design History File.
  • Work on complex technical problems and provide solutions that are highly innovative and ingenious to a broad range of problems.
  • Adheres to safety policy and procedures.
  • Demonstratable understanding of engineering practices, product safety and root cause analysis.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of experience

Nice to Have
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working in software engineering or software quality engineering
  • Working knowledge of embedded system design and development of complex delivery systems for medical devices.
  • Thorough understanding of engineering practices, product safety, problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with others as part of a team.
  • Effective in written and oral communication experienced in report writing and development of presentations.
  • Proven team leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough understanding of medical device industry and competitor products. Working knowledge of other related disciplines.
  • Takes initiative in keeping current with technology developments in specialized area.
  • In depth knowledge and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in related field of expertise to develop innovative approaches to work.
  • Demonstratable knowledge of software verification and software validation for medical device software (IEC 62304 lifecycle).
  • Demonstratable knowledge of test automation concepts, strategies, development and execution.
  • Familiarity of software validation principles
  • Programming proficiency in C, C++, and others
