We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager - Compliance.
Principal Responsibilities
  • The Senior Regulatory Affairs Manager position supports Head of Regulatory Affairs ASP to oversee the Regulatory Affairs activities
  • An SME in respect of supported regulatory engagement, ensuring that the Group maintains full oversight of all relevant engagement with the Group's most significant regulators globally. 'Regulatory Engagement' for these purposes includes meetings, visits, reviews, thematic work, investigations, enforcement activities, reporting, information provision, correspondence and similar and whether of a regular, recurring or ad hoc nature
  • Operate in accordance with agreed KPIs and to the requirements of the Compliance Operating Model
  • Proactively develop the activities to continue to help the Compliance Function navigate the regulatory landscape as that landscape evolves
  • An SME in respect of supported regulatory engagement, ensuring that the Group maintains full oversight of all relevant engagement with the Group's most significant regulators globally. 'Regulatory Engagement' for these purposes includes meetings, visits, reviews, thematic work, investigations, enforcement activities, reporting, information provision, correspondence and similar and whether of a regular, recurring or ad hoc nature. Support all parts of the Compliance function, including by regular communications and reporting and work in a collaborative way with all stakeholders
  • Support the Head of Regulatory Affairs ASP to manage requests from Regulators and to manage cross-border regulatory engagements
  • Record and report on regulatory engagements, including communications to ensure line of sight on emerging themes arising from engagement with Regulators
  • Provide line of sight to key stakeholders on key regulatory deliverables and related activities, including highlighting any potential delivery issues
  • Share information and matters of significance with key stakeholders and escalate issues of concern regarding to Head of Regulatory Affairs ASP
  • Monitor pending or proposed regulatory developments (which fall within the responsibility of Compliance), identify relevant stakeholders and keep them informed through regular communications
  • Either directly, or working with relevant stakeholders, ensure that a high level analysis is completed for inflight regulatory developments that impact HSBC. Support detailed analysis where possible
  • Work with the wider Compliance function to provide advice and oversight of first line regulatory change implementation, escalate where necessary and report on completion
  • Directly or in liaison with colleagues in or outside the Compliance function, identify and submit responses to relevant consultations or similar on regulatory developments and where appropriate seek to drive changes to legislation that are in the best interests of our customers, strategy and other stakeholders
Qualifications
Requirements
  • Significant experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior management at HSBC and senior external contacts
  • Typically, qualifications would include an undergraduate or post-graduate degree in Business Administration, Finance or a related field, or a legal, accounting or Corporate Secretary professional qualification
  • Significant experience of navigating HSBC governance structures
  • Significant project, operational and people management experience at HSBC
  • Continuous improvement and change management experience
  • Deep understanding of regulators and their agenda / approach
  • Sound understanding of regulation as applicable to a global systemically important financial institution
  • Outstanding leadership skills
  • Ability to manage people effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: ability to project authority, negotiate effectively and influence others
  • Excellent time and project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple outputs simultaneously
  • Ability to work in a fast-moving, high-pressure environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Outstanding commercial acumen
