Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Operational and Resilience Risk Manager, Hong Kong and Macau
Principal Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist actionable and contextual guidance across all resilience risks within Hong Kong and Macau both enabling business growth whilst maintaining related risks within appetite
  • Responsible for the review of controls relating to resilience risks
  • Responsible for supporting the Generalists with internal and external events, providing insight and learnings relevant to controls
  • Influence and provide direction to the 1LOD and ORR Business & Functions team to ensure they fulfil own roles and responsibilities and manage resilience risk according to the Group's frameworks and within stated appetite
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, regulators, industry bodies and others to keep up to date with developments
  • Manage relationships with wider ORR team Act as one of the key 2LOD contact
  • Lead and role model for non-financial risk aligning with the Bank's strategy, behaviors and values
  • Robustly challenge and influence to ensure how we manage and quantify our risk exposure and fully embed a strong risk management culture and behaviors is effective
  • Work effectively across ORR
  • Partner with ORR Business & Functions team and 1LOD to identify, measure, mitigate, monitor and report resilience risks related to their area of specialism
  • Partner with ORR Business & Functions team regarding Implementation of country Internal Audit and ORR recommendations and directions for the improved use of the Risk Framework related to the specialist area.
  • Partner with ORR Business & Functions team to provide risk oversight on the implementation and embedding of FIM requirements on Technology and Data & information Risks in HBAP Hong Kong and Macau
Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
  • Strong level of business management knowledge
  • Strong level of risk management knowledge and relevant experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the external environment (risk, regulatory, geopolitical, competitor etc)
  • A BA or BS University Degree preferable in relevant discipline
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. HKMA Enhanced Competency Framework on Cybersecurity, Information Systems Audit and Control Association certification or equivalent qualification from a recognized professional body) may be advantageous.
  • Previous experience and/or knowledge in Resilience Risk types, especially on Technology (including Cyber) Risk, Data & Information Risk and Payments and Transaction Processing Risk, will be advantageous.
  • Providing Expert Advice and Robust Challenge
  • Delivering Risk Steward Policies
  • Oversee, Review, and Challenge Risks and Controls
  • Understanding and Applying Risk Management in Context
