Position Overview
We are looking for a talented Experience Designer who can help create and ship high-quality experience for Autodesk Building Design Products. If you are passionate about experience design, data-driven solutions, problem solving, user research, complex workflows, customer engagement, or simply BIM, you have a chance to make an impact on what we are committed to the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry. The Senior Experience Designer will work on global initiatives and partner with our local and global designers to work with stakeholders from product team, engineering team and other functional teams across different geolocations around the globe. This role requires an empathetic mindset, strategic thinking, critical research and analysis, proven data-driven design experience, and a thoughtful approach to work independently, collaboratively and globally within a large organization. You will report to the experience design manager in Autodesk China R&D Center (ACRD) as well as be a part of the global experience design team. This position is based in Shanghai, China.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct user research to gather market and customer requirements
  • Transfer understanding of user needs and workflows to propose strategic enhancements. Working with Product Manager and Product Owner, distills this into a set of features that will benefit the user in the most effective way
  • Leverage data analytics results and tools to analyze customer usage and support design decisions
  • Design alternative solutions, evaluating them to choose the best approach. Visualize and prototype intended solutions and collaborate with key Product and Engineering stakeholders to evaluate
  • Coordinate and facilitate usability tests and other target user researches with scrum team members and/or Product Managers
  • Deliver design communication artifacts (documents, presentations, low, high fidelity mockups, interactive prototypes, etc.) for use by a wide range of audiences
  • Facilitate presentations and discussions with customers, developers, and product marketers to drive resolution on proposed features and functionality
  • Partner with development team to drive successful implementation of user experience design. Resolve any implementation issues that affect the design
  • Partner with other designers to make sure cohesive experiences across different platforms and products

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional interaction design and usability evaluation/research experience with multi-disciplinary design teams
  • Demonstrable understanding of modern software development processes as they relate to design
  • Ability to develop interactive prototypes and documentation to aid evaluation and development of designs
  • Strong communications skills: written, verbal and visual
  • Fluent in both Chinese and English
  • Impeccable design sensitivity and aesthetic
  • Ability to solve complex problems and drive projects from concept through implementation
  • Highly adaptable with strong organizational skills
  • Fast learning
  • Proactive; willing to take initiatives and risks

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with any architectural design tools or Autodesk products
  • Previous experience in AEC industry, such as digital designer or technology specialist
  • Have experience creating and designing tools that increase productivity or optimize workflow.
  • An advanced degree in HCI-related or architecture subject
  • Expertise in modern software development processes and concepts (Agile) for user experience
  • Entrepreneurial spirit: experience with software start-up or UX Consulting Services firm
  • Demonstrable interest in the details and the results of the design process, not just the initial concept
  • Ability to partner with user research to identify and fix usability issues from ethnographic observation. A solid understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
  • Interact with and influence others effectively via teamwork and diplomacy
  • Excellent working knowledge of design software; Adobe Creative Suite/Creative Cloud, Sketch, Figma, InVision, Visio, etc.
