Job Description Role Purpose A Project Manager (PM) is a motivated, result driven individual that manages project activities for the China Professional Services in a particular geographical. The PM also takes ultimate responsibility for all aspects of project delivery in their assigned engagements. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: You will work with engagement managers and perform project management duties to support the completion of projects in professional services organization. You will participate during all phases of the project management process. Under the guidance of the engagement managers, you'll schedule and conduct project meetings, communicate assignments and expectations to internal or external project members, track completion of project deliverables, collect customer's acceptance on milestones or timesheet. You will communicate project information to stakeholders, design templates, create presentations, review and edit project deliverables, maintain the project information repository, complete the project according to VMware project excellence methodology. You'll also help resolve project conflicts, identify resource requirements and align the project team on project scope. You'll manage, track and report on the financial (Revenue, Costs, Margin) aspects of projects. Provide strong analytical skills regarding technical, financial and project management issues. Own, manage, track and report on the successful delivery of projects using the project delivery/tracking tool Changepoint. As required, assist the Services Sales Managers (SSM's) to validate the scope, delivery budget, margin, and time expectations. Where required, particularly for strategic or complex accounts, facilitate supporting the SSM in the pre-sales discussions with the end customer. Review project SOW evaluate scope and customer requirement within the ECMS tool and provide delivery pre-approval to release. Champion and drive project best practice in delivery excellence Farm and highlight to SSM/Account team opportunities to up-sell or cross-sell all PSO offerings. Regular engagement with existing customers to develop and enhance customer relationships. Work collaboratively with local and interstate partners to delivery projects to the mutual benefit. Adoption of Delivery Excellence methodology for the delivery of projects. Ensure that projects have appropriate level of project management and other levels of project governance assigned. Effectively and efficiently allocate resources to engagements such that the best outcome is achieved within the budget and required timeframes. Manage project resource plan to ensure that there is sufficient team member available to deliver on demand. Drive the process and Delivery Excellence requirements that lead to the triggering of customer satisfaction surveys. Review CSAT results and plan appropriate course of action. Follow up on all detractor results. Manage project costs with consideration and management of the impact of travel, resource usage and subcontractors to achieve project margin target. Manage subcontractors in projects including identification, on boarding, rate card negotiation, allocation of work, management of work product, work quality review, confirmation of delivery. Identify, recommend and participate in the development of new or existing solutions. Knowledge and Skill Requirements: Role Specific Technical Skills: Certified project management skills Capable to daily work with MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Changepoint, SharePoint Strong IT background, Understand IT infrastructure and related software components (such as database, middle-ware, virtualization, container). Understand software defined datacenter and related infrastructure. Role Specific Project Management skills: Scope Management Cost Management Schedule Management Risk Management Issue resolving Skill Communication Skill Role Specific Commercial skills: Has personal pride in the quality of work delivered Has created project plans, budgets and schedules Is able to provide on a weekly project report updates on forecasts including their current status, likely close, possible over-runs and risk/issues to successful delivery Is able to provide weekly financial updates on revenue and margin in large deals Previous Experience: 8 years of experience in the IT industry with a minimum of 5 years in customer facing Project Management or a similar project management role Experience in project management in service delivery projects which deal over 500K USD. Project delivery experience on software deployment/delivery project, or development related project delivery in customer site. Customer faced pre-sale experience, work with sales to promote IT solutions. Education: BS/BA degree or equivalent industry qualification & management experience Personal Attributes and Competencies: Is personable and well presented Is able to communicate effectively with all levels of a VMware and customer organization (e.g., Technology individual to CIO's) and vary the message and content based on audience Is results focused by delivering no matter what the challenges Can demonstrate perseverance against adversity Demonstrates ownership and responsibility for what has been committed Has excellent communications and interpersonal skills Has the ability to collaborate with other peers and stakeholders effectively Has the ability to travel (nationally & internationally) up to 50% when required PMP equivalent certification is mandatory.
