Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB)
Wealth and Personal Banking is our new global business combining Retail Banking and Wealth Management and Global Private Banking, to become a global wealth manager with USD1.4 trillion in assets. Our dedicated colleagues serve millions of customers worldwide across the entire spectrum of private wealth, ranging from personal banking for individuals and families, through to business owners, investors and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. We provide products and services such as bank accounts, credit cards, personal loans and mortgages, as well as asset management, insurance, wealth management and private banking, that best suit our customers needs.
Project Leads are involved at all stages of the project lifecycle, from change initiation, design and delivery, through to benefits realisation and will support more senior project managers. They may be located in BAU teams as well as Project teams.
Project Leads may have many direct reports and may be supported by Business Analysts, Programme Management Office (PMO) staff or admin support staff.
The Project Lead will hold most or all of these responsibilities:
. Defining the project approach, building stakeholder buy-in around the project plan, commitments and changes
. Managing delivery proactively, balancing scope, schedule, communications, budget and risks
. Defining resource needs, responsibilities and schedules
. Working within project controls and procedures
. Working within established quality assurance processes
. Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
. Reporting progress, issues, dependencies and risks to project leadership and committees (as appropriate) and making recommendations to influence decision making in order to maintain progress towards delivery and benefits realisation
. Providing guidance and maintaining a focus on how the project aligns to wider programme objectives
. Adhering to HSBC project methodology at all times
Depending on the field in which the Project Lead is located, a working level knowledge of a particular field may be required. Qualifications
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
Knowledge:
  • A thorough understanding of the China Life insurance market
  • Proven experience in participating and managing large and complex strategic projects especially in financial or insurance industry that have a measurable impact on the business
  • Proven experience at an executive level and able to deliver results within tight schedule
  • Able to look strategically at the Insurance business, define and improve processes that impact the business
  • Proven knowledge of the distribution network/product for investment business

Skills:
  • Strong communication/relationship management skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong influencing skills, able to obtain buy-in and support from both senior executives and business partners
  • Strong project management skills
