Job Description

Occupational Therapy, Department of Integrated Rehabilitation Centre, Hong Kong Children&rsquos Hospital, Kowloon Central Cluster
HK$17,888 - HK$22,357 per month (Please see Remarks 5)
Key Responsibilities:
  1. To assist Occupational Therapists to:
    • Preparingvenue and equipment for treatment.
    • Facilitate patients to participate in individual session(s) and group session(s).
    • Carrying out therapeutic activities, outreach services and rehabilitation groups under OT&rsquos supervision.
    • Maintain cleanliness, tidiness of clinical areas and workshops of Occupational Therapy.
    • Maintenance of equipment, tools and materials of treatment.
    • Inventory checking, stock maintenance and procurement process.
  2. To provide technical assistance and support to Occupational Therapists in:
    • Development of material for educational program and therapeutic activities.
    • Production of sewing projects, pressure garments and assistive devices for patients.
    • Fabrication of rehabilitation devices, adapt equipment and furniture to facilitate rehabilitation outcome.
    • Knowledge and skills in metalwork (optional).
  3. To perform independent operation of computers and data input for rehabilitation and clinical management purpose.
  4. To perform appointment booking, collection of revenue and handle patient enquiries.
  5. To perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements
1. Completed F.5 / S.5 or equivalent
2. Completed structured departmental training (See Remarks 5)
Preferred Attributes
  1. Sound knowledge and skills in sewing, or metal work & woodwork and basic computer applications.
  2. Obtained certificate/ received relevant training inOccupational Therapy/ Rehabilitation service or equivalent.
  3. Holding certificate of the Health Care Assistant Course / Care-related Support Worker Course accredited by HA. (See Remarks 10).
  4. Possess working experience in patient care.
  5. Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese.
  6. Good PC skills & knowledge in common softwares such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other MS Office applications.
  7. Pleasant and mature with strong sense of responsibility.
  8. Able to work independently, with good communication and interpersonal skills.

For Serving HA Staff
  1. The selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for 1 - 3 yearsdepending on his/her existing employment terms. The offer of salary for serving employees uponchanges in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package / employmentterms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies.

For External Applicants
  1. Appointment will be on contract terms for 1 - 3 years. 5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
  2. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.

For All Applicants
  1. Renewal of contract will depend on funding, operational needs and appointee&rsquos performance.
  2. Applicants who do not meet entry requirements (2), if find suitable, will be employed to undergo at least 6 months on the job training including the structured departmental training. During the training period, the staff will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant IIIA at a monthly salary of HK$14,958 to provide service and to receive the training. After the training period of at least 6 months and passing the end of training assessment on skills and performance, the staff will be appointed as Patient Care Assistant II at a monthly salary of HK$17,888. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.
  3. The selected candidate may be required to work irregular hour and perform shift duties.
  4. The selected candidate may be required to perform 24-hour shift duty and to perform duties during typhoons, rainstorms and other emergencies.
  5. The selected candidate may be required to wear uniform, N-95 mask and personal protective equipment when discharging duties.
  6. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
