Job Description

HK$17,888- HK$22,357 month (see Remarks 1, 5)
Key Responsibilities
1. Assist nurses to provide training and treatment to patients.
2. Provide direct patient care such as bathing, care of incontinence etc.
3. Perform ward area patrol to ensure patient safety.
4. Prepare patient for investigation, physical examination and nursing procedure.
5. Assist supervisor in organizing therapeutic and educational activities for patients and service users.
6. Provide assistance in group session materials preparation such as poster & reading material printing,
group room environment and equipment preparation.
7. Provide escort duty, outreaching services and home visit.
8. Disinfect equipment and perform cleansing duties.
9. Provide clerical support and administrative support for the daily operation.
10.Assist in handling general enquiries.
11.May require to work in different hospitals and school settings.
12.Carry out duties assigned by supervisors.

Entry Requirements
1.F.5 /S.5 or equivalent. (See Remarks 1).
2. Holding certificate of the Health Care Assistant Course / Care-related Support Worker Courseaccredited by HA.
(See Remarks 9).3. Completed structured departmental training (See Remarks 5).
4. Ability to read and write Chinese and English, and speak fluent Cantonese.

Preferred attributes
1.Possess experience in mental health service.
2. Good command of written Chinese, fluent spoken Cantonese and able to understand simple English.
3. Good PC skills & knowledge in common software.
4. Self-motivated and able to work independently under pressure.
5. Responsible, able to work independently and with good interpersonal skills.


For Serving HA staff
1.Serving staff with F.3/S.3 standard and 2 years'care-related work experience within HA may also be considered.

2. The selected candidate will be offered either contract or fixed term appointment for 1-3 years depending on his/her existing employment terms. The offer of salary for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package / employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies.

For External Applicants
3. Appointment will be on contract terms for an initial period of 1-3 years.5% of total basic salary as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
4. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.

For all Applicants
5. Applicants who do not meet entry requirements (3), if find suitable, will be employed as Patient Care Assistant IIIA to undergo at least 6 months' structured departmental training with monthly salary of $14,958. After completing the structured departmental training and passing the training assessment on skills and performance, the staff will be employed as Patient Care Assistant II with monthly salary of $17,888. Employment may be terminated if the selected applicant cannot pass the assessment after training.
6. May be required to wear uniform, perform shift duties and return to post during inclement weather and other contingencies.
7. May be required to work in another work location to meet service needs of the HA.
8. The renewal/extension of appointment will be subject to service needs and job performance.
