BASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and officially commenced in November 2019, BASF Guangdong Verbund site project would be BASF’s largest investment with up to US$10 billion upon completion and would be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF. The site would ultimately be the third-largest BASF site worldwide, and will be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production by utilizing the latest digital technologies and applying the highest safety standards.
Objectives:
  • Responsible for the execution of the digitalization topics for Petrochemicals investment projects at Zhanjiang Verbund Site (ZVS) in cooperation with the Project Team

Main Tasks:
  • Works closely together with Technology Managers, Project Management and Centers of Digitalization Expertise
  • Consults Project Operations Managers (POMs) related to digital technologies for operations/production
  • Will be supported by digital experts from Ludwigshafen by WebEx and on site
  • Enforces requirements of CP division towards engineering and contractors of CPs investment projects at ZVS
  • Provides detail information on already completed applications in the plants and defines specifications for new implementations for suppliers/contractors
  • Develops and drives new project ideas, respective business cases and finally project proposals in cooperation with plants and experts from Global Digital Services and implements these
  • Participates in the Digital Manufacturing Community of CP division and is accepted as expert for questions from Digital Community, colleagues from plants and expert services
  • Acquires the required knowledge of Petrochemical Technologies and adjusts implementation of digital technologies to individual requirements of operations, e.g. batch vs. conti, large/small capacity, equipment, etc.

Requirements:
  • Education/Training:
  • Mechanical/Chemical engineering
  • Electrical engineering (Process automation, instrumentation, control)
  • IT-engineer (Big data analysis, data management)
  • Working Experience: 8 years of work experiences
  • Experience with Digital Technologies, e.g.
