Job Title: Legal Counsel
Location: DSM China Campus, Shanghai Headquarter
Reporting Line: General Counsel, DSM Greater China
The Position
Provide Daily Legal Support - Advice and counsel in practical business terms to the responsible business units and functional departments of DSM in Greater China ensure business goals are met in a way that complies with applicable laws & regulations and DSM Corporate Requirements support and promote DSM Corporate Requirements and ethical standards within the business community in Greater China.
Contract Review and Negotiation - Monitor and improve process for contract development, review and maintenance advise all levels of business partners on a broad array of business transactions update and develop standard documentation in order to protect company's best interests on contractual commitments, manage legal risks, gain greater commercial benefits and ensure company is protected legally.
Compliance & Corporate Governance Issues - Direct company secretarial and corporate house-keeping services for the responsible legal entities in Greater China monitor and improve process for corporate compliance with applicable laws and regulations in the areas of marketing codes, anti-monopoly, business registration etc.
Build-Up Healthy Working Relationship - Develop hands-on working relationships with business partners at all levels of the company actively communicate and follow up on obligations and opportunities arising from commercial transactions ensure the appropriate use of legal resources and its integration in company transactions and activities.
Strong Team Player - Contribute to the Legal Department systemical development and play as a team member with other members in the Legal Department and collaborate with regional and global counsels on cross-border or multiple jurisdictional transactions
The Ideal
Bachelor of law degree or above from a good domestic or overseas university.
Admitted to practice in China.
Minimum 10-year legal related experience supporting complex commercial legal issues, with top law firm (both local and international) and/or relevant in-house experience in multinational corporations.
Knowledgeable about the life science and/or chemical industry is not mandatory but would be a definite asset.
Detailed and results-oriented, with outstanding organizational and analytical skills. Demonstrated business savvy with the ability to work successfully with high level business clients and to evaluate and to accept appropriate risk-taking to protect shareholder value.
Having professional skills, including mature, independent judgment, excellent communication, and multicultural interpersonal skills. The ability to formulate creative, practical legal and business solutions and to play strong, positive roles independently with minimal supervision will be critical.
Having the ability to build trust, process management the ability to present or take (as appropriate) decisions in a timely fashion and the ability to prioritise.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin. Having the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across a large number of diverse internal groups, teams, divisions, multiple jurisdictions and cultures as well as external stakeholders
A strong and pleasant team player. Desire to work as part of a team, and with the ability and passion to motivate others and to facilitate problem solving willingness to go extra miles to enhance collaborative and professional excellence team culture.
