Your ‘day to day
You will be employed in Hong Kong under Philip Morris Asia Limited (PMAL). PMAL operates as a subsidiary of Philip Morris International, Inc. You will support the Smoke-Free Products at electronic Product Development Center (ePDC). Accountable for the end-to-end delivery of the functional technical specifications/ design for product devices based on defined scope of work, ensuring strong coordination and collaboration with the Consumer function, and ensuring that the capabilities from the rest of the Product function are adequate in the process.
- Own and lead the entire process of taking a consumer-centric study brief to support the creation of a comprehensive product portfolio roadmap - covering electronics, accessories and apps. You will define the feasibility of new product devices ideas, all the way to detailed technical specifications and technical roadmap.
- Ensure accurate communication to all relevant parties to meet the product roadmap delivery. Track progress and take corrective action in close partnership with relevant parties. As the owner of change requests during NPI development, the incumbent is also responsible for timely NPI roadmap deliveries to meet commitments taken towards the commercial teams.
- Ensure product performance (Industrial design, electronics technical performance) meets the product specification throughout the product life cycle.
- Build positive relationships with key industry technology organizations, forums, and leaders to remain current on leading industry technology trends and developments and source strategic key partners in the area of product development. Thrive for setting the right ecosystem through the relevant partnerships / strategic alliances, e.g. sourcing the right ODM or suppliers, support the product roadmap down to product end of life. Ensure efficient ecosystem activation through governance.
- Keep abreast of current trends and issues in the new emerging technologies and in-market products to increase innovation. In parallel, continuously gain an in-depth understanding of consumer complaints and translate them into insights counsel and educate executives and management, typically on the new technologies driven or financial impacts.
- Deliver the target ROI of the projects owned as defined in the business case
- Lead the post-launch improvement initiatives in cost, quality or product performance till the end of product lifecycle.
- Bachelor degree in engineering, MBA is helpful.
- Shown experience in multiple hardware product categories, preferable in a multinational/multicultural environment, working with Consumer marketing and x-functionally
- Experience in highly competitive consumer-centric product categories that require understanding of consumer needs
- Experience in leading new technology through in-house R&D innovation development
- Experience in working with external ODM suppliers
- Reduced Risk Products (RRP) and PMI RRP portfolio knowledge and/or experience is an asset
- Solid technical/functional skills in product & project management, product development (e.g. DFX), quality management (QMS), requirements analysis, pricing, planning, competitive analysis, sales planning, inventory control, financial planning and strategy
- Good leadership skills, leading tensions in a constructive manner to make good trade-off decisions, e.g. between cost, speed and quality
- At ease to challenging and confront the status quo
- Risk management and mitigation skills combined with interpersonal savvy
- Product regulation and compliance (FDA, Safety, etc.) understanding
- Good command of English is a must
