Job Description

Hospital : Princess Margaret Hospital
Pay : HK$21,615 - HK$27,564 (HGPS Point 7 - 11) per month including Monthly Allowance (Please see Remarks item 2)
Key Responsibilities:
Mainly deployed on assisting Catering Manager / Hospital Chefto carry out duties at theMain Kitchen as listed below:
  1. To assist Hospital Chef II in supervisory duties and to lead a team of staff to carry out day-to-day operation in a safe, hygienic and cost effective manner.
  2. To follow up the routine maintenance of facilities and equipment, etc.
  3. To conduct OSH assessments and staff training when necessary.
  4. To manage various stock controls of department.
  5. To carryout HACCP audit, food safetyand environmental hygiene inspection.
  6. To monitor daily cleansing duties such as equipment cleaning / general housekeeping etc.
  7. To perform operational and administrative work.
  8. To perform typing and computer operations. (e.g. Dietetics and Catering Management System)
  9. To liaise and communicate routine operation with wards / other departments.
  10. To carry out other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Entry Requirements:
For Serving Catering Staff
  1. 3 years experience in catering field.
  2. Demonstrated potential to control and supervise staff.
  3. Able to speak fluent Cantonese and simple English, and to write Chinese and English.

For Other Candidates
1.(a) 5 subjects, including English Language (Syllabus A), at Grade E in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, or equivalent.
(b) 5 subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education attaining the level specified below:
- Level 1 in English Language and
- Level 2 in New Senior Secondary subjects/ Attained in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects under this category)/ Grade E in Other Language subjects or equivalent.
2. 2 years post-qualification experience at supervisory level.
Preferable Attributes / Exposure:
  1. Ability to read and write Chinese and English, and speak fluent Cantonese.
  2. Good interpersonal and communication skills with pleasant personality.
  3. Hard working, enthusiastic with sense of responsibility.
  4. Relevant catering qualifications.

For HA Serving Staff
  1. The selected candidate(s) will be offered either contract or fixed term appointmentfor 1 to3 yearsdepending on his/ her existing employment terms. Serving contract employee will be offered contract employment with up to 15% total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity, subject to satisfactory completion of the contract. Serving permanent employee will be offered a fixed term appointment after which the employee may be reverted back to his/ her former substantive rank.
  2. The offer of salary and allowance (Cash Allowance, Fixed-flexi Allowance or Monthly Allowance) for serving employees upon changes in appointment will be determined based on the remuneration package/ employment terms of the staff concerned and prevailing policies.

For External Applicants
  1. Appointment will be on contract terms for a period offor 1 to3 years. Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered upon completion of contract with satisfactory performance.
  2. Retiring / retired HA staff who wish to continue working for HA after their normal retirement may also apply. If selected, the terms and conditions of employment will be offered in accordance with prevailing policies of the Retired and Rehire Mechanism of HA.
