Position Overview
Details of the Division and Team:
The DWS Alternatives business is a diversified set of business activities including Private Equity, Private Real Estate, Private Infrastructure, Liquid Real Assets (Real Estate/Infrastructure and Commodity Securities), Sustainable Investments and Hedge Funds. The global team invests on behalf of a global client base that includes governments, corporations, individuals and institutional investors.
The primary role of Private & Real Assets Coverage Analyst based in Hong Kong is to develop relationship and close business from new prospects and existing institutional clients in the Greater China region covering Alternatives products/strategies. This will involve working with portfolio managers and product specialists regionally and globally to promote investment product sales through frequent client meetings and discussions covering investment strategy, account performance, new products and markets developments, and ensuring clients receive full and efficient services.
Private & Real Assets Coverage (Alternatives Specialists) Overview

  • Private & Real Assets Coverage (Alternatives Specialist) Group ('PRA') of the Client Coverage Division of DWS is a global team based in 12 offices across 9 countries and currently stands at a strength of 40 staff.The Head of Private & Real Assets, APAC works in partnership with the regional head of CCD in APAC to deliver against our business plans for alternatives in the region.

  • PRA is the dedicated sales, distribution and investor relations group within the CCD for the Alternatives asset class offerings structured and launched by the Product division and managed by the Investment Dividion. The Alternatives asset class offerings include: Real Estate, Infrastructure, Private Equity, Liquid Real Assets and Sustainable Investments. The group works closely with the sales generalists and other specialised teams (like Insurance, Client Relations, Institutional and Retail) within CCD to ensure the delivery of quality solutions to our clients who want to invest into Alternatives.

You will be part of a global team within the PRA Coverage team in APAC as part of the CCD of DWS. The position will be based in Hong Kong with a coverage focus on Greater China.

  • Our current team strength needs to be maintained and grow to keep up with the demands of our existing clients and to support growth with new clients and our strategic partners to ensure we have enough staffing capacity to meet incoming requests. We are looking for our team to continue to be a key driver behind DWS Group's ambitious Alternatives growth plans and, to the end we are seeking to hire a dynamic, motivated bilingual individual with business proficiency (English) to support our Alternatives distribution activities in APAC.

  • The candidate will work together with the PRA Coverage (Alternatives Specialists) based in Hong Kong and will support the Alternatives product/strategy distribution efforts across APAC by coordinating with Alternatives product champions/managers within the group globally and institutional sales professionals within APAC and where required outside of APAC to obtain product related information and support investor visits. The candidate is also expected to work closely with external distributors.

  • The candidate will be expected to work in a systematic and self-dependent way, support and acquire new institutional clients for the Alternatives businesses, such as real estate, infrastructure, private equity, private debt and sustainable investments. This will be done through dedicated product initiatives.

The candidate would be expected to: help manage the Alternatives product focused stakeholders at our APAC clients and prospects build their Alternatives knowledge so that they are a 'specialist' and act as a go-to person for the broader generalist CCD teams in APAC and, help the senior members of the PRA Coverage team in APAC further build on existing key client, distributor and strategic partner relationships successfully for Alternatives.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Coverage and distribution of alternatives products/strategies, including real estate, infrastructure, private equity, private debt and sustainable investments, to investors as well as distributors / strategic partners. The key client coverage market will be Greater China, including China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

  • Interface with various stakeholders within DWS, such as portfolio management, institutional and retail sales, product development, product management, marketing, consultant relations, compliance. Communicate cross border and build productive working relationships.

  • Close cooperation with CCD teams in the region, e.g. via joint customer visits and contacts, as well as product training courses. Support organizating/coordinating sales activities, such as roadshows, portfolio manager meetings, and marketing documents.

  • Support the team in creating/updating marketing materials and other relevant information, a product strategy in the responsible segments and implementation.

  • Independent processing and support in the analysis of customer potentials as well as the support of product initiatives together with the respective portfolio management teams.

  • Provide presentations to management and internal and external clients

  • Maintain databases on key strategies and product inventories.

  • Develop and maintain competitor performance data.

  • Integration into administrative sales and reporting processes (reporting, CRM processes, etc.)

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity being an ambassador of our firm's values

Your skills and experience:

  • Sales-oriented, highly self-motivated and good time management skills

  • Strong team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, ability to build trust with internal and external stakeholders, with good communication and client oriented mindset

  • Strong organizational skills, and attention to detail in handling multiple projects

  • Strong networking, initiative thinking and strategic planning experience

  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in sales or investment capacity, ideally with exposure to illiquid alternative products/strategies. Prior experience in private credit/debt would be a plus

  • Ability to quickly learn and articulate alternative products/strategies

  • Prior experiences in fund raising activities preparing, updating and presenting marketing materials to potential investors

  • Built relationship with and worked with institutional client community such as pension funds, insurers, endowments, sovereign wealth funds, and asset managers

  • Fluency in Mandarin and English, both spoken and written level

  • Bachelors degree, preferably in finance related fields, with a proven academic performance
