The successful candidate will ultimately be responsible to develop and enhancing the strategy with superior market intelligence & Advance product business roadmap & Advance product concepts with superior consumer insights development capabilities within the Harman Portable Audio business unit. This will include market analysis, competitive analysis, consumer Insights developments, in-depth consumer pain points identifications, Harman Value Proposition creation, P&L analysis throughout ecosystems & business networks, visualizing strategic P&L opportunities in business planning to justify key investments in Portable Business Unit driving technology trends related to consumer experiences and ecosystem in consumer electronics and ultimately brining up strategic pillars for profitable growth.

Your Team
The Director, GPLM will report to Vice President & GM, Portable Audio BU.

What You Will Do
  • Defines portfolio strategy for Portable Audio BU, enhancing front-loading activities for advance concepts portfolio
  • Manages 360-degree consumer journey and key touchpoints by Portable Audio Use Cases
  • Focuses on new business development activities to integrate new technologies and trends into the product innovation pipeline.
  • Drives conversations on new partnerships and collaborations with key customers and suppliers.
  • Plays integral role in defining consumer experience pipeline for New Technology Needs into product portfolio. Facilities critical link between Harman's R&D resources (H&M NTI) and GPLMs.
  • Drive leadership in category by defining meaningful product use cases and being very strict in what we choose to leave out of a product spec. (including compelling services and strategy).
  • Presenting your product plan and Harman Value Proposition in a manner that is consumer friendly, market realistic, creative and ultimately compelling.
  • In-depth knowledge accumulation for BU in wireless audio product category - market trend, competition and technology
  • Being at the forefront of technological trends and implications. This includes key platform architecture tradeoffs and maximizing the Harman advantage
  • Strong P&L skills. Can develop an ROI business case with total confidence. Good judgment skills in determining the balance of what we specify with what we get in financial return.
  • Solid awareness of global retail markets and what it takes to get your product placed with key retail partners
  • Have an international perspective that looks for creative ways to make meaningful rapid growth breakthroughs with our portfolio in key Harman international markets
  • Connect well with regional commercial colleagues. Be responsive to their needs and provide information to them that is immediately useful.
  • Connect well with Program management and engineering teams making sure that the required product concept gets turned into actual detailed product concepts for GPLMs to enhance detail executions.
  • Closely together with Brand Management teams for brand positionings and identifying strategic pillars from products experiences / products UI/UX elements / Packaging / Service Areas to support 360-degree marketing plan.
  • Develop appropriate a holistic App strategy related to Mid-long term PRMs(Product Roadmaps) & enhanced use cases that will enhance the overall consumer journeys
  • Master the entire lifecycle process in particular strong project management skills to make sure initial product creation milestones happen on time to enable successful product launches in appropriate regional Introduction windows.
  • Work as a team player in all Product Development activities outside your specific responsibility.
