Elsevier's Science, Technology and Medical Journals (STMJ) Marketing Department supports our ambitious journal business goals as the leading international publisher in China, and we welcome talented professionals to join us on this exciting journey.
We are looking for a Digital Marketing Manager in China. This individual will work closely with internal stakeholders incl marketing, editorial, publishing, etc as well as external parties to support organizational OA growth program in this market, utilizing email, PPC, SEO/SEM and other digital tools to market our journal offerings to potential and existing authors, with a focus on content acquisition and brand promotion for OA journal titles.
The ideal candidate should possess hands-on experience in digital marketing and good working knowledge of customer segmentation in journal publishing. (S)he would be the subject expert and responsible individual in devising and implementation of email and other digital marketing plans and timely reporting on progress. The ideal candidate should have the passion and desire to help the team deliver better and better results.
Reporting to the Head of China Marketing, the successful candidate will be based in Elsevier China office, and working closely with a global journal marketing team with offices in Amsterdam, China, London, New York, Oxford and Philadelphia.
Responsibilities:
1. Develop and execute journal digital promotion plans for key OA journal brands that support each stage of author journey, in alignment with marketing activities taking place in other channels, so as to support joint team efforts in creating integrated omni-channel optimized marketing reach to our target customers.
2. Define and optimize workflows to reach target authors via email campaigns, incl ongoing testing of our digital experiences, both A/B testing and user testing and constant efforts to improve on that.
3. Create high impact localized messaging and content in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
4. Monitor SEO/SEM and build new digital capabilities to attract and retain authors for existing and new OA titles.
5. Manage budgets and regular reporting on campaign performance and communicate further approaches to management and stakeholders.
6. Foster collaborative working relationship within the team and across the organization, for mutual goals in driving business growth.
7. Other marketing duties as assigned
Qualifications:
1. BSc or MSc Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or Science, Engineering.
2. A minimum of 3 years marketing experience required. Proven track record in marketing products to China market, via email campaigns and other digital marketing tools. Prior STM industry experience is a plus.
3. Expert knowledge of analytics tools/platforms to evaluate and report on campaign performance, and continuous improvement to drive for better outcome.
4. Proven ability in project management. Strong attention to details. Always meet deadlines and can handle complex and multiple projects.
5. Sensitive to customer needs and demonstrable ability to come up with attractive creatives that captures users attention
6. Good communications skills. Fluent in English (work proficiency) and native in Chinese
7. Problem-solving and critical mindset. Can work both independently and collaboratively as required as circumstances.
