Job Description

The Delivery Manager - Systems is an integral member of our client’s Leadership Team reporting into the Project Director, and is an important member of the Extended Senior Leadership Group, interacting on a frequent basis with the CEO, Executive Directors and the Board.
You will lead strongly on safety and actively contribute to strengthening the safety culture, developing key skills needed to advance their strategic and safety priorities. You will be resilient, agile and responsive to all of your stakeholder’s needs, navigating through complex and ambiguous situations to achieve the best outcome, while delivering good commercial outcomes.
You will forge strong relationships with your peers in order to be effective in this role and deliver on the overarching needs of the business, identifying and supporting improvements in other business areas as required. You will be an active voice in the Tier 1 Contractor and Consultancy community, driving improvement to how construction and design work is undertaken on the Railway.
You know how the business works, are future focused with the capacity to conceptualise and articulately paint credible visions of possibilities, build and maintain effective relationships to gain trust and respect to ensure you can deliver within our complex organisation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountabilities include but are not limited to:
  • Ensure that our client’s OHS and Rail safety obligations are being achieved and that the passengers and performance of the Operating Railway are never put at risk
  • Provide strong governance and leadership as an Alliance Leadership Team (ALT) member on the Rail Systems Alliance (RSA)
  • Build and sustain lasting relationships with a network of key people internally and externally to generate a deep understanding of business demands and facilitate partnerships that enable successful project outcomes
  • Can negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups achieving the right outcomes without damaging relationships; is cooperative; encourages collaboration and gains trust and support of peers quickly
  • Able to maneuver through complex/ambiguous organisational situations effectively and diplomatically; is sensitive to how people and organizations function
  • Apply diagnosis skills, data, analytics and other core metrics to guide decision making and measurement of results, and to identify systems and processes that need improvement
  • Recognise shared agendas and work toward mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Build and strengthen their capability, with focus on business change
  • Actively act as coach and mentor to members of the RSA team and other key senior team members in order to increase Projects capability
  • Support the establishment of best practices across other Alliances within the Projects broader portfolio
  • Represent the company positively in the community and appropriate government and industry bodies as required.
  • Demonstrates a genuine dedication to passenger focus and meeting their expectations around disruption management

TO BE SUCCSSESSFUL YOU WILL NEED:

  • A proven ability to work with a significant degree of independence, operating within broad objectives and providing leadership, advice and assistance to the Executive and the broader organisation
  • Comfortable and effective within a changing, ambiguous and fast pace environment with the ability to make sound business decisions and deliver within tight time frames
  • Resilience, strength of character and drive to resolve complex business challenges
  • Demonstrated high level negotiation, influencing, advocacy and facilitation skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proven resource and people management/leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to build effective high performance teams in a commercial environment and to successfully lead change
  • Genuine commitment to driving high engagement within their direct leadership team and the broader Division
  • Ability to lead complex project negotiations with varied government and Alliance stakeholders

Mandatory Qualification:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering admitting to corporate membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia

Preferred Qualification:

  • Qualified in Management

Experience:

  • Strong Experience managing project or Systems integration, including all life cycle facets associated with design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover
  • Extensive experience of current scheduling, cost control, project management techniques and Commercial and Contract management
