FACULTY OF ARTS (PR0134/20-21)
Hong Kong Baptist University has been awarded funding in relation to the Job Creation Scheme under Anti-epidemic Fund 2.0 of the Government to create employment opportunities.
The Faculty of ARTS is creating a variety of positions for university graduates to support various projects/programmes in different departments of the Faculty. The Faculty now invites applications for the following positions:
1. Assistant Communications Officer
(A) Ethical and Theoretical AI Lab (ACO-ART01)
- To assist with research related to the Lab, with the mounting of talks and events, and with writing aimed at communicating the results of the Lab's work to a wide audience, locally and internationally.
(B) Media and Communication for Music (ACO-ART02)
- To collaborate with management to develop and implement an effective communications strategy for the Department of Music; design and produce promotional materials for music events; write, edit, and distribute content for promotional materials and online media; and coordinate industry collaborative initiative.
2. Executive Assistant
Writers Workshops and Literary Events (EA-ART01)
- To provide administrative support to the Faculty of Arts as well as the International Writers Workshop, Chinese Writers Workshop, various literary events and outreach activities.
3. Project Assistant
(A) Music Community Outreach Programmes (PRA-ART01)
- To coordinate music outreach activities.
(B) Centre for Translation (PRA-ART02)
- To assist in event organization, event promotion on social media, and the preparation of a bi-annual newsletter.
- To assist in English-Chinese and Chinese-English language consultancy projects.
4. Publishing Assistant (2 posts) (PUA-ART01) / Teaching Assistant (THA-ART01) (6 posts)
Community Engagement
To serve as trainees in collaboration with partnering schools and publishing companies in Hong Kong:
- To edit, compose and manage the publishing process (for Publishing Assistant); or
- To teach, write teaching materials, and organise school activities (for Teaching Assistant).
5. Research Assistant
(A) Anthropocene Studies Group (3 posts) (RA-ART01)
- To assist in organising seminars and workshops, and preparing academic publications.
(B) Creative and Professional Writing (5 posts) (RA-ART02)
- To assist in a research project on social distancing during the coronavirus outbreak; interview people; participate in some writing and cultural activities; and coordination works.
(C) Faculty Niche Research Area: Performance Studies (2 posts) (RA-ART03)
- To assist in organising conference and other research projects (e.g. the creativity festival, documentary projects).
(D) Research Engagement - Chinese and Cross-Cultural Health Humanities (RA-ART04)
- To collect Chinese medical books of the Joseon Dynasty and to create an electronic database.
(E) Translation, Interpreting and Intercultural Studies (RA-ART05)
- To collect information and publicity texts on the coronavirus written in Chinese and English and published in the SAR, investigating the metaphorical patterns that they contain and analysing the extent of their communicative impact.
6. Technical Assistant
(A) Online channel of using research equipment and phonetic app translation (2 posts) (TCA-ART01)
- To assist in the preparation and design of materials for the topical video episodes; film and edit 120 episodes of production; upload and maintain the YouTube channel for the Lab; and translate into Chinese the content of the APP 'Interactive Phonetics'.
(B) 'Live from HKBU' online music broadcast channel (TCA-ART02)
- To produce and edit the music performance video/audio, and maintain and upgrade the music performance video/audio archive.
(C) Music and Creative Industries (TCA-ART03)
- To produce and edit the teaching video/audio, and provide technical and logistic support for e-teaching and learning.
Applicants should possess a recognized relevant Bachelor's degree with good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and reasonable proficiency in English and Putonghua.
As stipulated by the Government, applicants should be Hong Kong permanent residents. The Faculty may appoint candidates to positions different from what they have applied for to suit its operational needs.
Appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of one year.
