Amazon is a fast-paced, dynamic, high-tech company based in Seattle. Amazon's accounting team is searching for financial accounting professionals who consistently exceed expectations, who thrive in a challenging workplace, and who can actively contribute to our talented team.
This position will support and can directly influence launches of APAC business initiatives in retail, marketplace, payment, digital, operations, logistics and AWS by providing accounting guidance and collaborating with key project stakeholders such as global financial systems team, APAC operations accounting teams, tax and treasury on execution. Candidates will serve as first point of contact for finance and business partners to resolve issues, require excellent communication and organization skills, including the ability to anticipate, identify, and communicate risks to senior leadership. In addition, this position will be responsible for accounting process improvement through reducing manual efforts, automating journal entries and account reconciliations and shortening the closing cycle.
Successful candidates for this position have the equivalent of 8+ years of professional experiences in similar positions in larger public companies or public accounting firm, with the excellent skills in understanding of financial reporting process, internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls in their area, US and local GAAP technical accounting research and position paper writing. In addition, candidates have the demonstrated history of solving unusually complex accounting challenges and managing ambiguity, while supporting multiple simultaneous project launches in a fast-paced environment.
Job responsibilities
· Perform month-end general ledger close activities, monthly account reconciliations and reviews.
· Prepare various deliverables to support both internal and external financial audits and reporting needs.
· Design, develop and implement automated solutions using SQL, Python, VBA, Quicksight, RPA and other reporting tools.
· Have direct responsibility and ownership in executing process improvement opportunities including defining scope, goals and deliverables in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
· Serve as Blackline local admin.
· Coordinate with the global accounting teams to establish and maintain strong communication channels.
· Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an Accounting or Finance.
· 8+ years of accounting experiences
· Extensive experience coordinating project and dealing with multiple functional teams.
· Skillful in SQL, Python, VBA, Quicksight, RPA and other reporting tools.
· Proven track of process improvements and tool enhancements.
· Proven ability to work effectively in a customer-focused and cross-functional team.
· High sense of ownership and customer obsession.
· Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
· Experience of accounting systems and process design.
· Working knowledge of Blackline system (not required).
· Proven ability to influence and make an impact.
· Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
· Strong data analysis, problem-solving and project management skills
· History of collaboration and willingness to roll up one's sleeves to get the job done.
· Quickly adapt to new systems and function proficiently
· Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to express thoughts logically and succinctly.
