In this critical Java Developer (Scrum Team) role, you will be part of a team responsible for the overall health and execution of software delivery in a highly-performed distributed environment for applications. You will be a central player as the application transitions to Optum’s  elastic cloud platform.   

You will own our build/deploy/release pipeline including the associated  tool chain and will help to drive efficiency and consistency in our  processes. In this role, you will participate in all aspects delivery  from solution through production, and ultimately, help to change the face  of health care and help people live healthier lives.

The successful candidate will have experience in the development within distributed systems, strong technical skills, good communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment, If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, are driven to see people using  your creation, and long for the opportunity to build pioneering solutions  to challenging problems, we want to talk to you.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Join a development teams in delivery of RESTful APIs and UIs built with Angular and Adobe CQ5
  • Own build/deploy/release process and find ways to automate and improve our pipeline at every step
  • Bring innovative ideas to help continuously improve the M&R portals including the design, build, deploy, test and runtime cloud ecosystems
  • Participate in debugging and performance tuning in a high performance cloud platform

Required Qualifications:

  • 1-4 years of experience in building and shipping production software in a scaled distributed environment
  • Excellence in technical communication with peers and non-technical colleagues
  • Knowledge of a variety of modern programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Node), open-source technologies (Angular, Hibernate), and database technologies (Oracle/mySQL)
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Deployment Strategies
  • Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals (based on a BS or MS in CS or related field)
  • Great attitude, the passion and persistence to solve complex problems

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience in Healthcare industry 
  • Experience in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations
  • Experience in developing Unit Tests using tools such as JUnit, NUnit, MSTest to verify your code quality
  • Experience with RESTful Web Services
  • Desire to continuously improve and evolve all aspects of the work environment
  • Passion for automation and simplicity
