Title Distribution & Logistics Manager

Report to Head of Supply Chain

JOB PROFILE SUMMARY:

Responsible for the development, implementation and management of an integrated logistics management function to support the growth initiative, improve the overall logistics performance and customer satisfaction, reduce the overall logistics costs.
Working with the functional teams of our company in China, formulates, implements and continuously improves our country transportation strategy to obtain short- and long-term business and cost/service performance

Proactively solves issues inherent in moving freight via multiple modes over long distances
Establishes and maintains Third Party Logistics (3PL) and Transportation Management System vendor relationships
Lead, direct, evaluate and develop staff to ensure resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met.
Owns the Deliver Process within companys process management, and serves as IT focal point for Delivery-related system enhancements

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and direct the Logistics function of the corporation to ensure both internal and external customer service expectations are achieved at a reasonable cost
Lead day-to-day logistics import and export, transport scheduling activities to maximize the efficiency, reliability, timeliness, and cost effectiveness of the organization's logistic operations
Work with sourcing team to negotiate transportation contracts to ensure the best value to company and our customer base
Review all logistics operations, initiate/update process and make recommendations for best practices and continuous improvement
Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with business systems or processes, such as customer support, production planning, trade compliance, accounting and shipping
Direct logistics providers and ensure program execution to timing and cost objectives
Develop training materials for import and export regulations and policies
Assist in the assessment and audits for import and export compliance
Assist in determining and implementing transportation-related corrective actions when necessary
Assist Global Trade Compliance, EHS, regulatory, legal counsel and functional leaders in resolving trade compliance matters
Audit the transactions and processes of third-party freight payment providers
Engage the appropriate functional leaders to develop contingency plans should a disruption occur
Collaborate with individuals globally to develop logistics best practices
Establish and monitor specific logistics performance management systems

Evaluate and recommend new or improved technology and automation
Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, equipment or frequency (network remodeling)
Investigate customer complaints involving such matters as damaged items, overcharges and delays in shipment
Perform cooperate with Head of Supply Chain to develop and implement supply chain strategy for China to improve business profitability and meet operational target for the country.

COMPETENCE REQUIRED:
Strong oral communications, data analytical and presentation skills
Demonstrated related expertise preferably in a multinational manufacturing organization
Solid experience managing Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers
Working knowledge of hazardous materials transportation regulations and trade compliance requirements
Solid experience with freight forwarding/brokerage operations and processes
Solid experience and success developing logistics best practices
Strong leadership, negotiation and influences skills.
Good command of Microsoft Office (Outlook/Word/Excel)

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 10 years' experience in supply chain, logistics or materials management in chemical industry
ERP systems experience, SAP preferred


EUDCATION REQUIRED:

BA/BS in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration or related discipline

LANGUAGE REQUIRED:
Good oral and written skills in English and Mandarin.
