EIRE Systems is looking to hire a Data Center Support Engineer to provide professional Data Center Operations Support Services.
Candidates should be capable to communicate effectively both in Cantonese and English and should understand the physical requirements and day-to-day operations procedures for management of an enterprise data center.
Project Management - Obtain data center requirements from IT teams. Calculate/design the required rack count, power consumption, cooling, rails and network panels. Manage with Facilities regarding design and construction. If applicable, then you'll also be need to manage equipment deliveries, installation, relocation, and/or disposal.
Equipment Physical Installation - Centralize all installation requests and provide a wide range of services from handling deliveries, assigning rack locations, taking the lead to review with Facilities on installation, requests network/fiber patching, physical rack/stack equipment, inventory management (labels, bar-codes, co-ordinate with IT Business Management to update asset records), configure management console or iLo ports, rack diagram updates
Documentation Management - Obtain and collect all data necessary for management/operation reports, including capacity management, forecasts, vendor coordination, patching, tape management and available resources
Equipment Disposal - Obtain all hardware equipment to be decommissioned from all teams and work with IT Finance, IT Business Management, IT Security and approved vendor for pick-up, data wiping and disposal
Data Centre Power-down management - coordination with different vendors and all IT silos
Operation activities :
Morning/EOD checks: Hardware physical inspection, email status report
Vendor Co-ordination: arrange onsite access and escort for vendors should it be required for break-fix, installation or any project works
Backup Tapes Management: work closely with storage team to manage onsite tapes (stock management, replace ejected tapes, cleaning tapes management, etc), arrange tapes to be transported offsite, recall tapes from offsite for restoration
Guard Arrangement: arrange data center access for other teams if required outside coverage hours
SKILLS: Language: Fluent in English.
Data center related work experience
Good understanding of server installation procedure
Good understanding of data center infrastructure and its resiliency design (UPS, Generator, CRAC, cabling, containment routes, etc). CDCP is a plus
HP ProLiant DL and ML (standalone server), SL and BL (Blade)
Dell Rack servers
IBM BladeCenter E Chassis, x86 Blade, Tape Library
Cisco 65xx, 37xx, 45xx
Brocade SAN director and/or switches
Cable (UTP/fiber) patching and testing technique
Working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and can work under pressure
